Code of Conduct

1. Introduction

a.  Smt SR Mehta Arts College (SRMAC) is an aided institution affiliated with Gujarat University, committed to delivering high-quality education in various Arts disciplines to the community in and around Ahmedabad

b.  This Code of Conduct sets forth the expectations and standards of behaviour for all members of the SRMAC community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

2. Respectful and Inclusive Environment

a.  All members of the college community must treat one another with respect, dignity, and fairness, regardless of background, gender, race, religion, or any other characteristic

b.  Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any form of disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated

3. Academic Integrity

a.  Students are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and honesty.

b.  Acts of plagiarism, cheating, or any form of academic misconduct are strictly prohibited.

c.  Faculty members are responsible for fostering academic integrity and ensuring fair evaluation and assessment practices.

4.Professional Conduct

a.  Faculty and staff members are expected to maintain professionalism in their interactions with students, colleagues, and the wider college community

b.  They must demonstrate fairness, impartiality, and respect for diversity in their teaching, research, and administrative duties.

5. Attendance and Punctuality

a.  Students are required to attend classes regularly and maintain punctuality.

b.  Faculty members are responsible for keeping accurate attendance records and addressing any related concerns.

6. Use of College Resources

a.  College resources, including facilities, equipment, and technology, must be used responsibly and in accordance with the college’s policies and guidelines

b.  Unauthorized use, misuse, or damage to college property is strictly prohibited.

7. Disciplinary Actions

a.  Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary measures, ranging from warnings to probation, suspension, or expulsion, depending on the severity of the violation.

b.  The college will ensure a fair and transparent disciplinary process, allowing the accused party to present their case.

8. Grievance Redressal

a.  A grievance redressal mechanism is in place to address concerns related to the college environment, academic matters, or other issues.

b.  Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to submit grievances through the designated channels for prompt and fair resolution.

9. Compliance with Laws and Regulations

a.  All members of the college community are expected to comply with the laws of the land, as well as the rules, regulations, and policies of the college and Gujarat University.

b.  Participation in illegal activities or violations of college policies may result in disciplinary actions.

10. Amendments to the Code of Conduct

a. The Code of Conduct is subject to periodic review and may be amended by the college administration as necessary.

b. Any changes to the Code will be communicated to the college community through appropriate channels.

Code of Conduct for Sports

1.  Respect: All participants must treat athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect and dignity. This includes refraining from using derogatory language, harassment, or bullying.

2.  Fair Play: Athletes, coaches, and officials are expected to uphold the principles of fair play.

3.   Safety: Participants must prioritise safety by following proper protocols and guidelines to prevent injuries. This includes wearing the appropriate safety gear and adhering to medical advice.

4.   Integrity: All participants should act with honesty and integrity, avoiding cheating, match-fixing, and substance abuse

5.   Responsibility: Participants are responsible for their actions both on and off the field, adhering to team rules and representing their sport and organization with honour.

6.   Inclusion and Diversity: Participants should foster an inclusive environment that respects and values diversity in all forms, including race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and other differences

7.   Communication: Open, honest, and respectful communication should be maintained between athletes, coaches, officials, and other stakeholders

8.   Compliance: All participants must comply with local laws, regulations, and the rules set by governing bodies.

Policy For Sports

1. Only students between the ages of 17 and 25 are eligible to participate in Gujarat University sports activities

2. The sports room will be available for use during college hours only

3. Wearing sports shoes is mandatory in the sports room

4. Sports equipment must be handled with the utmost care

5. A student ID card is required for entry into the sports room

6. Any form of indiscipline will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken, including barring students from the sports room

7. In case of any dispute regarding the sports room, the principal’s decision will be final.

Sports Facilities at the Institute

The new sports facility at the college is quite impressive and offers a range of activities that can benefit students in multiple ways.

1. Physical Fitness: Sports like badminton, table tennis, and Judo help students stay active, build strength, and improve overall fitness

Admission Policy

1. Introduction

The admission policy of Smt SR Mehta Arts College, Ahmedabad, ensures a fair, transparent, and efficient process for students seeking admission. This policy adheres to the guidelines set by Gujarat University and follows the centralized online admission system.

2. Eligibility Criteria

a.  Academic Qualifications: Applicants must meet the minimum academic qualifications prescribed by Gujarat University for the chosen course.

b.  Application Procedure: Candidates are required to complete the online application within the designated timeframe, ensuring that all information provided is accurate and authentic

3. Centralised Online Admission

a.  Smt SR Mehta Arts College participates in the centralised online admission system managed by Gujarat University

b.  The admission process will take place through the official online portal specified by Gujarat University

c.  Candidates must carefully follow the instructions on the portal regarding form submission, document uploads, and fee payments

4. Merit-based Admission

a.  Admission is primarily merit-based, adhering to Gujarat University’s guidelines

b.  Merit lists are made based on candidates’ performance in their qualifying examinations

c. These merit lists will be published on both the college website and the university’s online portal

5. Reservation Policy

a.  The college follows the reservation policy as mandated by the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat University

b.  Reserved seats will be filled according to the applicable regulations

c.  Candidates applying under reserved categories must provide valid documentary evidence during the application process

6. Verification of Documents

a.  Shortlisted candidates must present original documents for verification within the specified period

b.  Failure to submit the required documents or providing false information may result in the cancellation of admission

7.   Fee Structure and Payment

a.  The fee structure for each course is determined by the college and approved by relevant authorities.

b.  Admission fees must be paid within the specified deadline to confirm the seat

c. The fee payment procedure will be communicated via the online portal and the college website

8. Anti-ragging Policy

a.  Smt SR Mehta Arts College strictly enforces an anti-ragging policy in accordance with UGC and Gujarat University regulations

b.  Any instances of ragging or harassment will be handled as per the applicable guidelines

9. Grievance Redressal
