Brief of Program:
Under the auspices of the NSS Unit of Smt. S. R. Mehta Arts College, the students visited Sabarmati Central Jail as part of an educational and social awareness programme. The visit was organized under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Darsha Jani, along with NSS Coordinators Dr, Nayana Chudasama. Ms. Tejani Munshi, and Dr. Seema Badgujar. Associate Professor in Sociology.
During the visit, the students were given detailed information about the correctional measures adopted for jail inmates, various rehabilitative and vocational activities conducted inside the jail, and the overall functioning and administration of the prison. The students also observed and learned about the products prepared by the jail inmates, which aim at skill development and self-reliance.
The visit proved to be highly informative and enriching, helping students gain practical insights into the correctional system and the importance of rehabilitation in society.
